Jeffrey Woods aka Jeff the Killer is the titular main character of the 2011 creepypasta of the same name.

History[]

NOTE: This wiki page is going by the 2011 creepypasta. We are aware that there are various versions of Jeff the Killer, including the 2015 remake, as well as KillerJeff's original authentic one from 2008. But it has been decided that the 2011 creepypasta be used, as it is the most well-known and popular Jeff the Killer story.

According to the creepypasta, Jeff Woods was a 13-year-old who moved to a new neighborhood with his brother Liu and their parents. On their first day of school, they were accosted by 3 bullies named Randy, Keith & Troy, who Jeff brutally beat up after they threatened them with knives. Liu took the blame for it and was arrested, sending Jeff into a deep depression. The bullies later attack Jeff again at a party, and Jeff kills one of them, but not before getting covered in bleach and lit on fire by Keith. During this fight, Jeff's mind permanently snapped.

When Jeff woke up, he was at the hospital and his head was wrapped in bandages. When the bandages were taken off, it was revealed that his face had become disfigured and ghastly pale from the burns, with bright red lips and a leathery texture. Jeff said that he liked his face this way and laughed hysterically, but the doctor foolishly thought that this insanity was merely a side effect of the painkillers and let Jeff go home.

Later that night, Jeff's mother finds him carving his face into a permanent smile so that he would no longer have to exert energy to smile, as he put it, and burning off his eyelids so he can always see his face. Jeff's mother went to her husband to tell him that their son had gone completely mad and needed to be killed, but Jeff caught them and stabbed them to death. This woke up Liu (who was recently released), with Jeff telling him as he was about to plunge the knife into his body, "Go to sleep".

Creation and Development[]

To this day, nobody knows the origin of the infamous Jeff photo. The oldest known record of the picture is from a Japanese image sharing website in 2005. The first time the picture was labelled "Jeff the Killer" was on August 10, 2008, when Newgrounds user KillerJeff (aka Sesseur) uploaded it the site. Later that year, on October 3, 2008, Sesseur uploaded a video on his YouTube channel titled "Jeff the killer [Original Story]", which contained the very first origin of Jeff. A week later, Sesseur re-iterated this origin story in a 4chan thread. Unfortunately, Sesseur's original YouTube channel was terminated by YouTube years later after being falsely reported. Thankfully, the Jeff video that started it all has been preserved by others re-uploading it.

Despite Sesseur developing an entire mythos around his creation, Jeff remained mostly obscure until 2011, when Creepypasta Wiki user GameFuelTV uploaded him and his brother Travis's own rewrite of Jeff's origin to the site. For one reason or another, the story exploded in popularity, spawning hundreds of spin-offs, fan-art, adaptations, parodies and blatant rip-offs and almost completely eclipsing the original Sesseur version. However despite the 2011 story's massive fandom, it was also widely criticized for his amateurish writing, leading it to being removed from the wiki after only 3 years. In 2015 the Creepypasta Wiki admins issued a community challenge to write a version of Jeff's story that fit the site's modern quality standards. Users would vote on the stories, and the story with the most votes would become the official Creepypasta Wiki Jeff the Killer story. The winning story was Jeff the Killer 2015 by K. Banning Kellum.

Derivative Works[]

Even though the Jeff Woods story is itself a derivative work, it also inspired an absolutely absurd amount of derivative works of it's own. The works range from sequels to the 2011 story, spin-off characters like Jane the Killer, Homicidal Liu and Nina the Killer, and rewritten origins for Jeff. The most notable Jeff spin-off is the aforementioned Jeff the Killer 2015 and it's sequels, but other spin-offs worth note include:

Jeff the Killer: One by One by DoctorBleed and Doros70.

Jeff vs. Jane by Doros70.

Jeff the Killer Redux by Shadowswimmer77.

A Letter from James Lamb by Jzoidberg.

JTK by Slimebeast.

Jeff the Killer vs. Slender Man by Dylan Roberts.

Slender Man vs. Jeff by Doros70.

who created him?[]

Sesseur aka killerjeff.
